2010 saw many improvements to our premises to enable it to meet our demands for the next few years. This included an external facelift to our head office, car park painting and new chairs. Appraisals are now a thing of the past at Elementus and have been replaced by a new Personal Development Plan. This was trialled in 2010 and all employees will complete the process in 2011.
The new process follows a simple format and includes collecting colleague feedback. The benefits of this are that the process will reduce the time completing appraisal forms yet end up with a clear development plan for the coming year.
We have continued to be flexible by agreeing to flexible working arrangements for those combining work with family commitments. At the end of 2010, more than 10% of our staff were working flexible or reduced hours.
We have invested over £10,000 in external training and are continuing to improve the way we record internal training. This also plays a huge part in staff development.
In the latter part of 2010 we were surveyed by Best Companies as part of their Accreditation, and Sunday Times Best 100 Small Companies. We were pleased to gain a 1 star accreditation, however more importantly the feedback we have received has given us a clearer understanding of how our colleagues perceive our company.
This will be used to enable us to move forward and make Elementus a better place to work.
